New Floating Barges for Flagler Beach, Florida, Marina

The
prototype Flagler floating barge (foreground) and the first of the
standard models (background) are nearly ready for occupancy at Flagler
Floating Barges in Flagler Beach, Florida.
Would
you like to have a floating barge on the Intracoastal Waterway, in
Florida, at an affordable price?
Look no further than the new Flagler Floating Barges, designed
by Sponberg Yacht Design Inc., for Flagler Bridge Boatworks and Marina
in Flagler Beach, Florida, just a 40-minute scenic drive south of
historic St. Augustine.
These
are not “houseboats” in the strictest sense of the word, because
they do not have installed propulsion power.
That reduces the purchase price and maintenance costs
considerably. They are simply living accommodations that float, and they are moored in a
brand new marina.
The marina is approved for 50 floating barges, and construction
of the homes has just begun.
The
Flagler Floating Barges come in two sizes:
Small, 16' x 40' and 16' x 44’ with about 550 sq. ft. of
inside living area on one level, and Medium, 20' x 40', 20' x 44' and
20' x 48', with about 1,400 sq. ft. of inside living area on two levels.
A Large size and also custom barges are anticipated.
Each
living unit is built on a plywood and fiberglass hull that is subdivided
into several watertight compartments.
The proprietary method of hull construction was developed by
Mr. Howard Sklar in collaboration with Sponberg Yacht Design to
assure good quality boatbuilding standards and a long life with the minimum amount of maintenance.
Some standard designs have been developed so far, and these may
be customized inside and out to suit individual tastes.
For
more information on the design of the Flagler Floating Barges including
the floor plans for the prototype and small homes, go to the Powerboat
design page on this website (the easiest place to put it for now).
Or you can contact Mr. Howard Sklar at the marina directly by phone at
