Moloka’i Strait 72 Expeditionary Motoryacht Begins Construction.

The initial success of the Moloka’i Strait 65 (three boats under construction in the first year) led Moloka'i Strait Marine (MCM) to commission the design for the Moloka’i Strait 72.  Designing and building to order for the first owner in Indiana, the MS 72 incorporates a number of new features over her smaller sister.  Some of these are larger master stateroom and guest cabins, crew quarters, larger foredeck space, larger deck house space, and twin main engines.  The water and fuel capacities have been increased with simplified tankage placed lower in the hull.  Cruising range is still transoceanic, making the MS 72 a true little ship.

The steel and aluminum hull and deck house materials were modeled by Elliott Bay Design Group in Seattle, WA, from SYDI’s original 3-D hull modeling and AutoCad construction drawings.  Their highly detailed work has resulted in a greatly simplified construction process.
