SYDI selected designer for new Scandinavian Cruiser 40.

April, 2008:  Scandinavian Cruisers, headquartered in China, has selected Sponberg Yacht Design for developing their new 40' lightweight, boat-in-a-box, free-standing wingmasted sloop-rigged daysailer.

April, 2008:  Cherubini Yachts Inc. has been showing the CC 20 speedboat at the highest class boat shows.  Here are new photos.

SYDI redesigns the Chris Craft Cobra 21

April 2008:  Naval Architect Eric Sponberg redesigned the 1955 Chris Craft Cobra 21 for a client to build as a reproduction.  But the client did not want the original bottom which was flat aft and concave forward.  SYDI's new bottom is a much more modern deep-V type that seems to improve the boat's handling and performance.  See the complete story with photographs here.

Eagle, a sailing yacht design based on SYDI's Globetrotter 45, wins popular vote in Cruising World and Westlawn Yacht Design Competition.  

August 2007:  One of ten finalists out of 55 entries from around the world, Eagle placed 7th under judges' voting, but when the public was allowed to vote on-line, they saw the folly of the judges' reasoning and voted Eagle the best of the best, by a long shot.  See this page for the story.
